The Seeking Minds Story

Seeking Minds was created in response to a gap in how support is often delivered.

Too often, people are asked to fit into systems rather than systems adapting to people.

We built this practice around a different starting point:
people are the experts in their own lives, and support should strengthen that, not replace it.

We bring together occupational therapy, psychotherapy, positive behaviour support, and counselling to provide integrated support for people navigating disability, psychosocial disability, trauma, and complex life circumstances.

Our work focuses on reducing barriers to participation in everyday life, at home, in community, and within systems of support.

We also recognise that meaningful change often happens in collaboration with families, carers, and support teams, where appropriate and consented.

Rights-based, trauma-informed, person-led

We are a rights-based, trauma-informed practice. This means we:

  • Do not define what a meaningful life looks like for someone

  • Focus on choice, autonomy, and participation

  • Understand distress and disability in context (not isolation)

  • Work to reduce barriers created by systems and environments

  • Focus on real-world outcomes in daily life

Our role is to support people to live in ways that matter to them, not to fit into predetermined expectations of progress.
